Social Responsibility

Promedico works with AKIM Israel, the National Association for the Habilitation of Children and Adults with Intellectual Disabilities, on a special project in which Promedico employs disabled adults in the company’s non-drugs Relabeling department.

David Fuhrer, chairman of the Neopharm Group, initiated this project in 2006. In the project, the company employs 12 disabled adults who are an integral part of the staff. They perform tasks that match their abilities, and take an active part in all workday activities including lunch, social activities and field days, and employee award ceremonies.

David Fuhrer’s vision led to a breakthrough in the field of employment of disabled adults, and the project has served as a showcase for the collaboration between the industry and Israel’s disabled population.

In 2009, David Fuhrer was awarded the 2009 AKIM Prize for his contribution to AKIM and for the employment project at Promedico. The AKIM Prize is an expression of gratitude and appreciation for activities for people with intellectual disabilities, for the spirit of endeavor, extensive efforts, and giving wholeheartedly to the special people at AKIM and their families. The Prize also represents its recipients’ aspiration to promote social engagement, giving to others, mutual responsibility, and brotherhood.

In 2012, Promedico was awarded Outstanding Employer for its unique collaboration with AKIM. The Outstanding Employer Award is granted in recognition of companies that promote and champion the employment of individuals with disabilities.
